My BIG desk!

I have been wanting a big desk for EVER. Like always. Even before i starting to sew i wanted a big giant desk so that i could spread out and do whatever it was that i wanted to do that day and not be crammed into the kitchen, or on the coffee table or the corner of the living room. So since we moved and have the GIANT green room that SMC and i have decided to share as a work room, we decided that we needed to build a desk! We decided to stop at "Ollie's Bargain Basement" and check out cabinets and see if we could use them as bases for a desk. There were tons and tons of options but everything was AT LEAST $60...maybe i'm cheap, but if i was going to buy two cabinets and a piece of formica (around $50)..thats a decent amount of money to spend on a desk! but then...we came across the hollow core doors! 60x89" for....$8!! and THEN we went to the habitat for humanity RESTORE and found a lower cabinet that had been ripped out of an old house for $15! We headed home to regroup at which point I realized that an old table we had laying around was exactly the same height as the lower cabinet!
About 45 minutes, 8 screws and a pocket jig ( its handy to have a woodworker as a boyfriend) later, the dest was born! I have three deep drawers and all the surface space I could ever want. SMC donated a big long shelf...and I have an AMAZING workspace!
